How the heck do I use this thing?! This whiteboard -- "wiki" in geekspeak -- is charmingly easy to use. And you can't break anything... don't worry :-) [Mac users... this won't work on Safari yet... sorry!] Basic editing info (just 3 steps!)
- CLICK: Click the edit button and wait a few seconds the first time. Feeling unsure? You can practice in the playpen!
- EDIT: Pretend it's a word processor. Edit stuff. Add links by clicking this:
. Click Undo if you mess up.
- SAVE: Nothing is saved until you hit Save at the bottom!
Other editing tips and tricks:- PLAY: Play with other buttons in the edit screen. They do neat things
.
- DON'T STRESS: If something gets really messed up, I can always roll back to an earlier page version.
- ATTRIBUTE: Feel free to add your name after lines you post (e.g., [Adam Lasnik]).
- PROTECT: Please don't write e-mail addresses like joe@example.com; spambots will get them :(. Instead, please write them like joe [at] example.com or joe @t example.com, etc. Thanks!
- ANNOTATE: Or, instead of (or in addition) to that, you can add your name and/or optionally a note in the "Comment" field before you save something (e.g., "Jim Smith, jim [at] example.com; added Foo camp, corrected a couple typos")
- SAVE TIME: Shortcut keys work like you'd expect... ctrl-b for bold, ctrl-i for italics, etc.
- GEEK OUT: Uber-geeks... click on the HTML button above to format anything and everything in HTML :-)
But I'm a lurker... I don't wanna edit pages! -
HANG OUT: No problem! You can have fun leaving comments, searching for stuff, or even just reading. -
BE LAZY: If you're really shy about editing a page or leaving a public comment, you can always just drop me a note. Let me know if what, if anything, you'd like me to paraphrase or otherwise add to LHWS. |
